Description:

Painting depicting a crevasse on Mont Blanc, shown from a close observation point that highlights the structure of the ice and the rocky formation of the high mountains. The composition develops vertically, with a central ridge organizing the pictorial space and guiding the viewer’s gaze toward the mountain masses in the background.
In the foreground, fractured glacial surfaces are visible, crossed by deep fissures and chromatic variations that convey the texture of the ice and rock. The predominant tones are cool whites, greys, and blues, modulated by warmer, earthy touches in the emerging rocky areas.
The paint application is compact and controlled, with visible yet measured brushstrokes aimed at constructing volumes without indulging in descriptive detail. The work is signed at the lower left and dated 1939.
Available with a 7 cm antique fir wood frame, custom-made in our restoration workshop.
