Description:

Painted Tyrolean sideboard with chamfered edges, made of painted softwood, datable to around 1820.
The piece features a compact structure with a front composed of two paneled doors, framed by simple and well-proportioned moldings. The entire surface is decorated with casein paint, featuring stylized floral motifs centered on painted flower vases enclosed within rectangular panels.
The color palette is dominated by a blue-green background with layered glazes, now visibly patinated by use and time. The chamfered edges are decorated with a sinuous vertical floral vine motif, while the slightly projecting top is finished with a sober linear band.
The original wrought-iron hardware, including hinges and shaped handles, further enhances the historical authenticity of the piece.
Painted Tyrolean sideboards are particularly rare: Alpine furniture production more commonly focused on wardrobes and chests, which were essential storage elements in Tyrolean homes. Only in the residences of wealthier families were sideboards also present. Authentic surviving examples are increasingly scarce, and finding an original one requires experience, careful evaluation (and a bit of luck!).
In this specific case, the reduced depth represents an additional value, making the piece easy to place even in smaller interiors, without sacrificing decorative presence or the distinctive character of antique Tyrolean furniture.
