Description:

Painting by A. Straub, dated 1950, depicting an Alpine view of Monte Cristallo with Lake Landro in the foreground.

The work is executed with brushwork characterized by a compact, textured application of color, with visible yet controlled strokes, particularly effective in the rendering of the rocky masses. The composition is well balanced and clearly structured, featuring a distinct articulation of perspective planes: the grassy and rocky shoreline in the foreground introduces the scene, the central expanse of water enhances the sense of depth, while the jagged profile of Monte Cristallo dominates the background with a strong upward movement.

The color palette is predominantly cool, based on blues, grays, and light blues used for the sky, mountains, and lake reflections, harmonized by intense and natural greens in the wooded areas. The lake surface is treated with light, horizontal brushstrokes, effectively conveying the calmness of the water and the reflections of the surrounding landscape.

The light is diffuse and even, without strong chiaroscuro contrasts, contributing to an atmosphere of calm and suspension.

Restoration Information:

The painting has undergone a light conservative cleaning of the pictorial surface. Available with its original frame.
