Description:

The painting depicts an alpine landscape with a snow-covered mountain range. At the center rises a peak with a pyramidal profile, flanked by other rocky formations that fan out toward the lateral edges of the composition. The mountain slopes are rendered with a dense application of paint, spread with a palette knife in oblique directions that follow the structure of the rocky faces and the flows of snow.
Below, a strip of mountain meadow introduces the foreground: the terrain is articulated in areas of shadow and light, with emerging rocks and a small rural structure in the center, partially embedded in the slope. On both the left and right sides of the painting, groups of conifers develop, framing the view toward the central massif. Their foliage is defined by overlapping palette-knife strokes, in a range of greens varying from the darker tones of shaded areas to the lighter greens illuminated by sunlight.

The sky occupies the upper part of the composition and is painted in a light blue, interrupted by irregular clouds rendered with short, textured strokes. The whole scene is structured around a strong diagonal layout: from the shaded area in the foreground, the viewer’s gaze climbs along the ridge up to the central peak, the visual focal point of the composition.

On the back, a label indicates that the subject refers to the Reutte area (Tyrol).
