Snowy peaks – Hans Pogrzeba – 1937
38 cm x 52 cm without frame
46 cm x 60 cm with antique fir frame
oil on cardboard
The Mädelegabel, one of the most famous and highest (2645m) peaks of the Allgäu Alps, on the border between Tyrol and Bavaria.
Being composed of Dolomia, the Enrosadira phenomenon is present, clearly visible in this suggestive painting.
Pogrzeba (Munich 1895 – 1958), uses a “lean” oil, with little deposit of color on the substrate, a technique that allows him to perfectly render the footprints on the snow in the foreground.
