This single-door antique painted Tyrolean wardrobe is entirely hand-built from seasoned spruce wood, originating from the historic Tyrol region and dated 1835, as indicated by the painted inscription on the central section of the door. The cabinet features a striking architectural line, surmounted by a prominent, molded overhanging cornice decorated with a rhythmic stylized leaf motif over a warm ochre background.

The original polychrome finish showcases a deep, rich dark green background color, upon which a meticulously structured symmetrical decoration is executed. The central door is divided into two main quadrangular panels, each hosting a gadrooned vase from which vibrant floral bouquets blossom, featuring tulips and small buds in brick red, ochre, and soft white tones. Between the two main panels, a central band bears the original client’s initials “I.N.P.” positioned elegantly above the year.

The side pilasters reflect the same chromatic rhythm, organized into vertical panels painted with a faux-marble effect within geometric ochre frames, interspersed with star-shaped rosettes and topped with elegant ramages on the upper corners. The base is finished with a diagonal striped band. The coeval ironwork includes a fully functional original internal lock and a finely pierced and shaped external escutcheon, enhanced by an authentic old-world patina.

Restoration and work performed on all our furniture:

– Structural restoration: repair of minor missing components, sealing of any shrinkage splits on the back panel, consolidation of aged areas, checking and servicing of coeval ironwork.
– Thorough anti-woodworm and preservation treatment.
– Careful cleaning and sanitization of the interiors.
– Exterior finish treated with natural beeswax to enhance the rich patina.
– Interior finish protected with shellac, a natural alcohol-based varnish.
