The “sommerso” is a refined Murano glassmaking technique characterized by the presence of overlapping layers of contrasting colors, usually two. The process involves immersing a thick blown glass piece into a crucible containing transparent glass of another color, thus creating a striking effect of depth and brilliance.
This example, with its elegant and modern lines, fully embodies the 1950s aesthetic and the extraordinary skill of Murano master glassmakers.
