Blue Painted Chest dated 1848
CODE: C163
Measurements: Height 63 cm – Width 129 cm – Depth 65 cm
Period: 1848
Origin: Tyrol
Essence: Fir
Description:
Tyrolean painted chest entirely painted in blue. On the front there are two generous boxes framed in red, with a white background, containing cups of colorful flowers. Also on the front there are red ramages and the construction date.
Some traces of the original painting can still be seen on the lid. The painting on the top is usually the first to get ruined because these pieces of furniture were also used as benches.
Internally there is still the small compartment with a folding lid, which was used to contain candles or scented essences for linen. The small folding lid also serves to keep the large top of the chest open.
Inverted pyramid legs. Beautiful wrought iron hinges.
Partially restored piece of furniture.
