1726 Painted Alpine Chest
CODE: C175
Measurements: H. 81 cm – W. 160 cm – D. 672 cm
Period: 1726
Origin: Tyrol
Wood: Fir
Description:
Beautiful and large painted Tyrolean chest.
The decorations are geometric and monochromatic, typical of the first production of Tyrolean furniture, when flowers rarely appeared, were stylised or were completely absent, as in this case.
The shaped lowering decorated with baroque scrolls contrasts well with the broken lines and right angles of the geometric decorations on the front and lid. The hardware is original but the lock is no longer working. Beautiful patina and excellent state of conservation for this chest that is almost three hundred years old.
Partially restored furniture.
