Description:
Elegant still life executed in oil on canvas, depicting a bouquet of flowers—mainly carnations in shades of white, pink, and red—arranged in a slender glass vase. The composition features a well-balanced vertical structure: the stems gathered in the transparent vase, with its green-grey sheen, create a central axis around which the softly toned blossoms unfold. In the foreground, on the dark tabletop, the artist introduces a refined narrative detail: a small open jewelry box, decorated and lined in light blue fabric, from which a gold necklace and a pocket watch emerge. Next to them, a few cut flowers—including vividly colored pansies—add further chromatic balance and a symbolic touch. The dark, compact background enhances the luminosity of the flowers, which stand out with an almost atmospheric delicacy thanks to the soft, layered brushstrokes. The artwork is presented in its original antique gilded frame, characterized by floral motifs.
