Description:

Fir wood side table, made around the mid-19th century, attributable to a production context of the Alpine area. The piece features a simple and functional structure, with a rectangular top slightly projecting beyond the apron and a central front drawer.
The four legs are slender, tapered and gently curved outward, according to a typology widely found in 19th-century Alpine furniture, characterized by formal simplicity and solid craftsmanship. The drawer is fitted with a small central metal knob; the interior, left unfinished, reveals the light color of the fir wood.
The exterior surface is characterized by an anthracite grey lacquer, probably applied at a later date, now showing abrasions, losses and signs of wear that allow the underlying wood to emerge. This irregular patina offers a layered reading of the object, highlighting the relationship between the original wooden structure and subsequent interventions. The compact dimensions and the presence of the drawer suggest use as a side table or small occasional piece.

Interventions carried out on all our furniture:

– Structural restoration: reconstruction of small missing parts, filling of any cracks on the back, consolidation of deteriorated areas, inspection and repair of hardware.
– Thorough anti-woodworm treatment.
– Cleaning and sanitization of interior surfaces.
– Exterior finish with natural beeswax.
– Interior finish with shellac, a natural alcohol-based varnish.

Customizations:

Upon request, it is possible to agree on:

– the desired level of restoration;
– interior customization (addition of hanging rods, shelves, dividers, etc.).
