Description:
This painting depicts a winter glimpse of Cima Sappada. The scene, composed through a balanced interplay between traditional Alpine architecture and stretches of clear sky, conveys a suspended, silent moment of mountain life, with snow-covered roofs, icy pathways, and the Church of Saint Oswald rising in the background, accompanied by the profile of Creta Forata.
Although unsigned, the textured palette-knife strokes, the vibrant rendering of the snow, and especially the distinctive chromatic palette strongly recall the hand of Pio Solero, a painter active in the Veneto region and native of Sappada, known for capturing mountain landscapes with spontaneity and refined chromatic sensitivity.
Restoration Information:
- Light conservative cleaning of the painted surface.
